How do I use the template?

Simple! With every box, plug in the information about each individual reaction!

General Reaction Scheme: Write down the overall reaction, including common starting materials, reagents, and the product!

Reaction Type/Goal: This small section helps me a lot. Here, I either write down that “It’s an addition reaction” or I include the “goal of the reaction.”

For example, the goal of PBr₃ with alcohols is to turn an alcohol into an inverted bromine!

Mechanism: write down the entire mechanism and be as detailed as possible so you can always refer back to it!

Selectivity: Here, I write down if the reaction has any regioselectivity or anything else I want to note! For example, PBr₃ only reacts with primary and secondary alcohols!

Stereochemistry: I will write down how stereochemistry is impacted by the reaction. For example, PBr₃ will cause inversion of configuration!

Reaction Characteristics: Here, I break down each step of the reaction and include anything else specific to the reaction!

Reaction Notes: I will write down any other information about the reaction, such as different reagents or alternative pathways!
